Decide where the customer should do the work
Capafy vs Skillfully is a delivery decision before it is a pricing decision. Capafy documents two routes: customers run a finished agent on its platform or download a skill package. Skillfully focuses on paid access to an expert’s method inside supported AI tools. Start by choosing the experience your customer actually wants, then compare the commercial arrangements.
Capafy deserves consideration when you want a marketplace listing for a runnable agent or a downloadable product. Skillfully deserves consideration when you already reach readers or clients and want to maintain a paid method they use in their existing assistant. Neither model makes demand automatic.

What Capafy actually offers publishers
Capafy calls itself a marketplace for skill-based agents. Its publisher guide distinguishes the underlying skill package from the finished agent listing. That distinction matters: buyers can evaluate a named product with its own description and examples, rather than deciding what to do with an unexplained instruction file. Capafy publisher guide.
For browser delivery, the documentation describes execution inside a Capafy sandbox. The environment is Linux-based, has resource limits, and pauses when idle. Scheduled work uses platform scheduling rather than an ordinary background cron process. Those are product-design constraints, not just hosting details. A workflow that needs a visible desktop or a continuously running process needs careful evaluation. Run on Capafy.
For download delivery, the customer receives readable source and runs the package in their own agent client, using their own credentials where needed. Capafy requires a complete package, declared dependencies, and no embedded secrets. Download delivery is therefore a deliberate transfer of usable files. Capafy download requirements.
A useful question for a seller is: “Which parts of the product should I operate, and which parts should the customer own?” A browser agent can hide setup complexity from the customer while creating runtime obligations for the publisher. A download can reduce dependence on a hosted session while increasing the number of local environments the seller must understand.
Where Skillfully fits
Skillfully’s public positioning centers on authors and experts with an established method and an audience they can reach directly. Readers subscribe to use that method in ChatGPT or Claude, while the author receives usage and feedback signals to guide improvement. Author onboarding is application or invitation based; Skillfully explicitly says it is not an open marketplace. Skillfully’s current offering.
That makes it a different route to market. A Capafy listing is a product in a marketplace. A Skillfully offer begins with the relationship between an expert and the people who want to apply that expert’s method. The relevant question is whether the customer wants another place to run an agent or wants guidance within an assistant they already use.
Managed access does not promise that instructions can never be copied, and supported connections should not be read as support for every AI application. Ask about the exact customer environment and the actual offer. Our discussion of downloaded skill files versus managed access explains the lifecycle questions that apply whichever provider you choose.
Compare the customer promise, not the category label
The following table is an original decision worksheet. The implications are planning questions, not findings from a comparative usability test.
| Your intended promise | Route to investigate | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| “Open a browser and run this finished agent.” | Capafy hosted mode | A complete run with representative inputs and the required dependencies |
| “Keep this edition and use it in your own environment.” | Capafy download mode | Package contents, supported clients, installation steps, and update terms |
| “Apply my maintained method in your existing assistant.” | Skillfully | The supported connection, access offer, and first useful reader result |
| “Run this workflow on a schedule.” | Capafy’s documented scheduling options | Timing limits, failure handling, and the cost of the selected mode |
| “Use this as a continuing companion to my book.” | Evaluate the reader lifecycle on either route | How readers return, receive corrections, and report a difficulty |
If a consultant has built a standalone automation and customers prefer a browser interface, forcing it into an assistant-based offer may make the product harder to explain. Conversely, a book reader who already brings working notes into ChatGPT may value staying there more than browsing a separate agent catalog.
Capafy’s headline fee is not the whole calculation
Capafy documents a 20% platform fee, but the base depends on the transaction type. For subscription transactions, a sandbox fee is deducted before calculating the platform fee. Download transactions do not carry that sandbox fee. At verification, the monthly sandbox amounts listed were $2 for on-demand, $4 for daily scheduling, and $8 for high-frequency scheduling. These are documented terms, not our observed settlement results. Capafy platform fee and proceeds.
Hypothetical calculation: Suppose a subscription has a $20 net transaction amount and uses the documented $2 monthly on-demand sandbox fee. The remaining base is $18; a 20% platform fee is $3.60; the resulting amount is $14.40 under that formula. This is arithmetic illustrating the published model, not an earnings forecast. It does not establish the seller’s complete costs or tax treatment.
The practical lesson is to compare contribution per customer after delivery obligations. A low price with a fixed infrastructure component behaves differently from a higher price with the same component. Support time, external API use, and the effort to keep the underlying method current also belong in the seller’s own worksheet.
We do not have a verified public Skillfully fee schedule to put beside that calculation. Obtain the current author terms before treating either service as cheaper. An empty comparison cell is more useful than an invented percentage.
Separate a sale from cash received
Capafy’s settlement guide describes monthly statements, a seven-day dispute window, and payout initiation on or after the fifteenth when conditions are met. It also lists a $100 closing-balance threshold and requires a usable payout method with no unresolved issue. A dashboard proceeds figure is therefore not the same as money in a bank account. Capafy settlement and payout.
For a small initial launch, timing can matter as much as the fee. Write down when you expect to incur costs, when a transaction becomes eligible for settlement, and when cash can arrive. Use conservative assumptions for refunds and delays. Do not finance ongoing service commitments from a gross sales counter.
Ask the same timing questions of Skillfully during onboarding. The comparison should use the commercial terms offered to you, including any conditions particular to your product, rather than infer terms from another author’s offer.
A hypothetical launch decision for a workshop facilitator
Imagine a facilitator who helps managers turn messy workshop notes into a decision brief. This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer case study. The method has three valuable distinctions: separating observations from interpretations, identifying the decision owner, and naming the evidence still missing.
She sketches two products. One is a browser agent that accepts notes and returns a structured brief. The other guides an ongoing conversation inside the manager’s assistant. Both can use the same underlying expertise, but they create different support questions.
For the browser product, she should ask whether the agent can process representative files, preserve the context needed for follow-up, and recover from an interrupted session. For the assistant product, she should ask whether the manager can connect successfully, invoke the method in the right situation, and recognize when the method needs more evidence.
She should test the difficult middle of the workflow, not only the polished final brief. Give the prototype notes that contain an unresolved disagreement. Does it invent consensus? Does it ask the manager to resolve the dispute? Does it clearly separate a draft from an approved decision? That evidence tells her more about product quality than the number of delivery features.
Before choosing, she can record three observations for each route: time to first useful result, the specific assistance required, and whether the customer would use the same route again. No score should be filled from marketing copy. The worksheet becomes useful when a real customer attempts the intended job.
Choose the route you can support after launch
Choose Capafy for further evaluation when the finished agent or downloadable package is the center of your offer, particularly if its documented runtime choices fit the work. Explore Skillfully when the expert-reader relationship and an improving method inside supported assistants are the product.
