Resolve the payment question before comparing the storefronts

If you are comparing iuseagent and Skillfully as places to sell agent skills, start with one important qualification: iuseagent's public seller page describes a publication workflow, while its pricing and policy pages still describe parts of commerce as deferred. That makes seller readiness a question to resolve directly before promising customers a paid launch.

Skillfully serves a different purpose. It is for established authors and experts delivering a maintained method to their own audience, with application-based onboarding. It is not an open marketplace where any seller lists a package and waits for shoppers to arrive.

This article is published by Skillfully. We reviewed public first-party pages on September 30, 2026; we did not create seller accounts, buy a package, or test either platform's payouts for this comparison. The distinction between published claims and completed transactions matters throughout.

What iuseagent's seller page describes

iuseagent presents itself as an AI agent skills marketplace. Its seller page describes free and paid submissions, seller onboarding, package metadata, package versions, and publication review. It also promotes previews and version history.

That is a recognizable model for selling a reusable artifact. A buyer can evaluate a listing, understand what the package contains, and decide whether the work is useful in their environment. For a developer or practitioner with a self-contained skill, those are sensible capabilities to investigate.

The important word is investigate. A description of an intended seller journey does not establish that every step is available to a new seller today. Nor does a published listing prove that payment, delivery, refunds, and bank settlement work together.

The public readiness caveat is material

The iuseagent pricing page calls its commission figure a planning assumption and says checkout and payout implementation are deferred. We therefore do not present its displayed percentage as an operative commercial fee.

Its terms page identifies the terms as a placeholder requiring legal review. Its refund page also describes refund and access-change work as deferred. These pages conflict with any reading of the seller page as conclusive proof that the entire paid journey is ready.

This does not establish that the service is broken. Documentation can lag implementation, and private workflows may exist. It establishes a narrower, actionable finding: a prospective seller needs current confirmation and a demonstrated transaction before relying on the paid path.

Ask the operator which public document governs your sale, which seller countries are supported, and whether the buyer, delivery, refund, and payout steps are available to your account. Save the answer alongside the date and any demonstrated result. A new service can be a reasonable choice when uncertainty is made explicit and the pilot is appropriately small.

What Skillfully is designed to sell

Skillfully's public site describes a paid method that readers use through their AI assistant, an ongoing improvement relationship, and an application route for authors. It explicitly says the product is not an open marketplace.

The commercial question is therefore different: do you want to sell an identified package to people browsing a catalog, or maintain paid access to a method for people you can already reach? Skillfully's managed delivery uses MCP, with author and reader workflows around access and feedback. Ask about the precise client and offer you intend to use; a protocol name alone does not prove compatibility with every assistant configuration.

Managed access is useful when the author expects to revise the method and wants future use to follow the offer's access rules. It also creates a continuing obligation to keep the experience useful. Read the fuller downloaded files versus managed access comparison before treating either delivery choice as merely a different checkout screen.

Work through a launch worksheet

Imagine an independent operations consultant with a skill that turns workshop notes into a decision log. This is a fictional planning example, not a customer result. The skill identifies the owner, next action, unresolved question, and due date for each decision. It must label a missing due date as unknown rather than invent one.

The consultant has two plausible offers. The first is a downloadable edition for facilitators who can install and maintain their own tools. The second is a maintained method for repeat workshop leaders, with revised examples and a clear feedback route. Both need the same underlying quality test. The second also needs a credible reason for continuing payment.

Use the following worksheet with either provider:

CheckEvidence the consultant should obtainWhat an incomplete answer means
Seller eligibilityConfirmed country, account requirements, and publication routeDo not set a customer launch date yet
Product deliveryA new buyer reaches the purchased edition or entitled methodA listing screenshot is insufficient
First useful taskBuyer produces a decision log from supplied sample notesFix setup or method quality before recruiting more buyers
Missing informationUnknown owners and dates remain visibly unresolvedThe method is not ready if it fabricates commitments
CorrectionBuyer can identify and use a revised exampleDefine a manual correction process if needed
Refund or cancellationDemonstrated billing and future-access behavior in an authorized testDo not imply the two states change together automatically
SettlementSeller sees the actual ledger and payout conditionsDo not forecast cash timing from a marketing page

This worksheet helps distinguish product readiness from platform readiness. If the decision log is poor in every environment, changing marketplaces is unlikely to solve it. If the method works but the buyer cannot obtain it, the delivery route needs attention.

A marketplace listing still needs a credible sales page

A seller can make a useful listing before committing to a platform. Write the task, required inputs, expected output, tested environment, limitations, and included support. Show a small before-and-after example using material you have permission to publish.

For the workshop skill, a useful preview would show a messy note and the resulting decision row. It should also show a note that cannot be resolved. That second example tells the buyer whether the skill handles uncertainty responsibly.

Avoid promising that the skill works everywhere because it uses Markdown. Required tools, external accounts, permissions, and model behavior can change the result. A package that validates structurally still needs workflow testing. Our guide to testing an agent skill separates those questions.

Do the same for the business promise. Specify whether updates are included, whether support covers installation, and whether team use requires a different offer. Clear boundaries help buyers select the right product and give you a fair basis for handling problems.

When each option deserves a closer look

Investigate iuseagent when your priority is a publicly browsable package listing and its proposed versioned distribution model matches what you sell. Treat the payment-readiness questions as an explicit prerequisite. A free or limited pilot may provide useful information, but it should not be described as proof of a paid workflow.

Consider Skillfully when you have an established method, can bring readers or clients, and want to maintain a paid relationship around applying that method. Application-based onboarding and responsibility for ongoing value are meaningful constraints. Someone seeking unrestricted self-service publication or marketplace discovery should account for them.

If your main goal is to compare channels, use the broader agent skills marketplace decision matrix. If the uncertainty is your offer itself, work through one-time skill sales versus subscriptions before selecting a seller platform.

The next concrete step is to ask for evidence of your intended journey with your intended product. For Skillfully, apply through the public site. For iuseagent, resolve the discrepancy between seller messaging and commerce documentation directly. Choose after the outstanding answers are specific enough to put into your own customer promise.
